Local benefits
Enefit Green has a strong belief that local communities must gain from the development and all possible harmful effects must be mitigated. Our key principles of development are as follows
Minimise impact on environment
The impact on the environment can be minimised with smart planning, a suitable location and good management of the farm.
Each development is unique
With every new development the possible consequences of each project on the environment must be evaluated, in addition to the ways in which the farm can affect communities.
Communities are important
Constructive dialogue and cooperation with local communities will lead to the best possible results in the development of wind energy.
Benefits from the wind farm
- Carbon-neutral electricity production will aid the climate goals of Finland and Europe in general. Compared to producing electricity from coal, the lifetime output of the Tolpanvaara Wind Farm will prevent the release of 7.5 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
- The wind farm’s production will add green electricity to the NordPool market. Increase in renewable energy production is one of key ways to help lower energy prices.
- Enefit Green will be paying all local and state taxes related to the wind farm, thereby contributing to the state and local government budgets.
- Stakeholders directly affected by the wind farm will be paid additional compensation by Enefit Green.
- The construction of the wind farm will enable major consumers to receive electricity via a direct line without network charges.
- The construction of the wind farm will indirectly affect a number of other sectors and will create jobs and service provision opportunities for local businesses.
- A new transit connection will open from Näljängäntie to Jylhänvaarantie, which will shorten the connection of a few holiday homes on the shores of Lake Haukijärvi to Näljängäntie and the village of Puhos.
